Want that sought-after sun-kissed look without the harmful UV rays?
Self tan allows you to safely stay out of the sun without compromising your bronzed tan! Gone are the days of trashy orange results thanks to the wide variety of quality self tanners on the market at the moment.
Here are my recent tried and tested self tan reviews:
Fake Bake 5 Minute Mousse – R419 (available at Legs Eleven salons)
I was pleasantly surprised to find that each bottle comes with a pair of application gloves which help to prevent those terrible ‘orange-stained-hands’! The light weight mousse is easy to apply and dries in seconds. I would recommend applying it to one area of the body at a time to avoid an uneven application. The result is a streak free natural tan. I love the colour it creates, a gorgeous bronze without the orange undertone. Once the colour has developed it is a very subtle tan (which I like), however if you are looking for a darker tan I would recommend applying it twice.
Carribbeantan Gradual bronzing mousse – R79.95 (available at Clicks stores)
The lightweight clear mousse is easy to apply and dries in about 3 minutes after applying. The tan develops gradually in 8 hours, so don’t be surprised if you wake up in the morning a darker shade than the night before. However it is visible in 20 minutes after applying. No need to apply this one more than once as it develops into a deep golden tan. Blend carefully around the ankle and knee area when applying to avoid streaks.
Xen Tan Deep Bronze Luxe Dark – R430 (available at selected stockists)
I like the fact that the lotion is slightly tinted as it allows you to see where you have applied the product and spot areas you have missed. Therefore achieving a streak-free application. The tan develops in 3 hours but is instantly visible. If you are not using a Xen Tan Deluxe Tanning Mitt (R56) make sure to wash your hands after application as the formula develops quickly. After the prescribed developing time you are left with a beautiful intense but naturally bronzed tan.
